Swedish Massage (firm but gentle)

A general head to toe massage - Perfect for a 60 minute session, or 90 minute if you prefer.
The most widely recognized and commonly used category of massage is the classic swedish massage. Swedish massage is one of the most relaxing, yet therapeutic, styles of bodywork. Swedish massage includes five standard techniques: effleurage (sliding or gliding); petrissage (rolling, kneading); friction (cross fiber or with the fibers); tapotement (rhythmic tapping), and vibration/shaking and a lubricating product (oil or lotion) for smooth soothing strokes, with varying pressure and tempo - from light to vigorous. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include: relief from muscle aches and pains, whether due to exertion, inactivity or stress; decreased joint stiffness and increased range of motion, yielding greater flexibility; while improving circulation, mental clarity and appearance.

Deep Tissue Massage (medium)

A comprehensive head to toe massage - Most suitable for a 90 minute session.
Deep tissue massage is simply a concentrated form of bodywork that aims toward the deeper layers of fascia, muscles, tendons, ligaments and joint capsules. Deep tissue massage takes the classic swedish massage to another level, employing many of the same techniques - it is the intent that changes. Due to the nature of deep tissue work, communication during the session is important to maintain your comfort level. Keep in mind that a little soreness is not uncommon after the treatment. Remember to hydrate well.

Therapeutic Massage (intense)

Highly concentrated work in specific areas for the majority of the treatment - best suited to a 90 minute session, or 120 minutes.
Therapeutic massage (aka manual therapy) has many industry terms, and often, more than one form or technique may be applied during a session. Like deep tissue massage, therapeutic massage goes another level up in intensity and intent. Pre and post assessments might be performed and notated. Passive and active techniques might be employed. Range of motion techniques might also be used. When receiving therapeutic massage, communication becomes paramount. Soreness can be expected for 1-3 days, and using hot and cold therapy afterward will help reduce this effect. Always remember to hydrate well and frequently.

Ashiatsu (medium to intense)

Ashiatsu is an extremely effective method to offer a deep, yet comfortable massage. It is delivered by the therapists feet while maintaing balance, leverage and pressure via overhead bars. The broad soft pads of the feet work the muscles effectively deep, while the slow tempo is quite relaxing. While this treatment is superior for those who work-out often, it is good for most body types. A 90 minute session is required for this treatment, or 120 minutes.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy uses natures gift (bark, leaf, petal) of plant extractions (essential oils) for the purpose of altering one's mood, cognitive, psychological or physical well-being.
Essential oil can be added to any service, check the availability list in the office for an oil to enhance your treatment.
Personalized blends are available upon request.

Modern Cupping

An ancient healing technique brought into the 21st century - there is Fire Cupping, Vacuum Pump Cupping, and Silicone Cupping. Each method produces a vacuum effect. The Stationary Method draws the tissues, interstitial fluids, and blood into the cup, and in turn opening the skin's pores, whereby creating a release of impurities - cups are placed strategically and left for a short duration. The Non-Stationary method uses gliding, pulling and vibration to lengthen, lift, and break up fascial adhesions. Both methods can be employed during a massage treatment. Cupping, though considered safe, can cause slight swelling and/or coloring on the skin where the cups were applied. In most cases, the residual marks disappear within a day and are painless. Treatments of a longer duration may result in marks that can take anywhere from 3-7 days to dissipate.

Stone Therapy

Hot stones can be used within a massage to deepen relaxation and soften fascial layers. While, cold stones can be invigorating and help reduce inflammation. Both are great for increasing circulation.
